It's February and I have not taught any classes yet but thats gonna change soon. I'm teaching two classes on Saturday 25 at Beadfx's new loaction. Caged beads, spirals, wire wrapping and wrapped loops are the skills you'll acquire in this class. It does not end there because I'll even teach you how to make the clasp to complete your bracelet.

Fun With Wire

Fun With Wire is a class designed to teach the participants basic techniques in wire work. We gonna play with wire and have fun at the Toronto Bead Society's (TBS) Technique Night on April 18 2012 at Ryerson University in Toronto http://www.torontobeadsociety.org/web/.

In this class you"ll learn:

• How to make wire beads
• Horizontal Wire Wrapping
• Coiling around a bead 
• A dangle

There will be opportunities to make wrapped loops too (one of the fundamentals of wire work) and a spiral headpin. There is no kit fee - you can just go into your stash.

You'll need:

• 6/0 seedbeads (approx. 5g)
• 20 and 22 gauge Artistic or Parawire 
• A square or rectangular bead
• 2 14mm beads
• A ball point pen

 Tools:         

•  Wire Cutters
• Chain - nose Pliers
• Flat - nose Pliers
• Round - nose Pliers
• Nylon Jaw Pliers (optional)
• Beading Mat
• Measuring tape or Ruler

Yes I'm still here.
Same old tune you say?
Well I'm still at play.

I've been playing with the toys in my stash - wire, beads, resin, crystal clay and my tools of course. I'm just having fun making mainly bracelets and earrings and working on the Toronto Bag of Bead Challenge of course. The latter is due in March - thankfully.

Some of the pieces will be turned into class because by now you should know that other than designing jewelry I love teaching it to all who are willing to learn. So as usual I'll be posting my classes right here on my blog and on my Facebook page so look out for more fun classes from Rae's Beady Arts that are "From the heart, by the hands, just for you."

New

Sometimes I like to be on the outside looking in. To take that time out to reflect. A new year, a new age ( meh birthday jus pass and it comin again at de end of de year doh) and many moments of reflections.

 I looked at the stats on my Facebook fan page ( Rae's Beady Arts) http://www.facebook.com/pages/Raes-Beady-Arts/212333648796100#!/pages/Raes-Beady-Arts/212333648796100?sk=wall and felt elated that  there were four more Likes. This information also revealed that my "fans" are not only from Trinidad &Tobago and Canada, but USA, Saudi Arabia, Netherlands, Barbados, Dominican Republic and Italy. I salute all of you because you catalyze my desire to continue.

I have not forgotten my blog audience because in addition to the above mentioned countries, people from Russia, United Kingdom, Germany, Romania, Israel, Japan, Czech Republic, Mexico and Slovenia read my blog. Again I salute all of you.

So even though the year is approximately 14 days old ( in two minutes in Canada), it is still new. So to all of you who support me nuff respect and best wishes to you, your families  and your countries for 2012 and beyond.

Christmas

I took my son to one of the malls a few days before Christmas and he wanted a picture with Santa. It was easy because there was not a huge line up - literally a handful of people. Our turn came and I felt the child in me surface.

I sat next to Santa ( yeah I told him I wasn't gonna sit on his knee), while my favourite little guy sat on his knee and we had our picture taken. Of course it was his nature to ask what we wanted for Christmas. Josh just smiled and when he asked me I told him I didn't care for presents but I just wanted people to come over to our home.

That's what I got and it still remains the best present ever. Even though I miss my loved ones in Trinidad and Tobago the most at Christmas, it's all about creating new traditions with lessons learned from the past.

So to all of you who grace my blog with your presence - belated Christmas greetings and Happy New Year. 

Classes Two , Classes Thank You!

Yes Classes Two, classes yes thank you!!! It's almost the end of the year and I've two more classes.

On December 7, I'll be teaching Knots & Gems at Beadfx in Scarborough. The focus technique is traditional pearl knotting but we'll be using semiprecious stone beads. Create For The Cure

Create For The Cure Bracelet   

This one touches the very core of my being. This disease has taken too many people. One of my closest friends died from cancer last year and I still have not gotten over it. An Uncle of mine died about two weeks before my friend and the list goes on.
