Pearl Knotting

This pearl knotted bracelet is one of two new classes I'll be teaching at Beadfx in April. It's a basic pearl knotting class that affords students the opportunity to make an elegant bracelet.http://www.beadfx.com/classes/class-rae-pearlknottedbracelet.jsp
The other is called Coils, Knots and More and this is also open for beginners and all levels.Yes let’s jazz it up a bit to create a coiled and knotted necklace with a bit of wire wrapping in two 2 hours sessions. http://www.beadfx.com/classes/class-rae-coilsknots&more.jsp

Coiling Gizmo Techniques

This evening I'm off to Beadfx in Toronto to teach another Coiling Gizmo class.http://www.beadfx.com/classes/class-rae-coilingtechniques1.jsp . So come on over to Beadfx from 6 - 9PM. and share in the Beady Arts Coiling experience.

Bead Oasis

Last week I was really busy because of the Toronto Bead Oasis Show. I usually teach at the show and at the most recent one I had two classes.

I totally enjoyed both classes and the remarkable students made it easier for me to do what I love best - teach. Five different ladies and five different personalities but there were so many connections and to my joy and theirs they all left with completed pieces. With the exception of one who had more plans for hers and decided to complete it at home. I can't wait to see a picture of it.

So ladies thank you for being a part of the Beady Arts experience and for making my weekend a wonderful one.

Express Thy Creativity

He started to colour his t-shirt with a marker and I just looked on. I let him express himself. It took me back to a time when I started to paint on my clothes.

My mother's concern was that all my clothing would have been painted. Very soon I was painting on hers and on other people's too. Yeah I painted on clothing, on fabric and there were even  times when I decorated St. Mark's Anglican Church in Point Fortin where I grew up. Oh how I loved those days.

My parents did not stop me, but instead allowed me the opportunity to express myself through the Arts. My other family members and friends have supported me through the years and I am truly grateful for all of it. That freedom of expression and all the love and support continues to mold me into the individual that I am.

So now whenever he asks me to paint, I let him express himself because I want to keep that creative fire burning.

Oh Joshua!!

I was preparing for one of my coiling classes a few hours before and left  wire coils on the table. But of course my son who was two at the time had plans up his little sleeves. He pulled one of the coils apart. My first glance of it made me upset with myself for leaving my work unattended but those feelings soon subsided with the flow of creative juices.

I simply played a little with the "thing" and the result is the Joshua Bead. I absolutely love it. I just wear it on its own as a pendant and of course all the credit goes to Joshua !!!!

You Still Here!!!

You're still here?
I think that you have long overstayed your welcome.
I'm sick and tired of this roller coaster ride man.
Yeah one minute you're here and the next you're not.
And when I think you're gone, you come right back.
What are you trying to do to me?
Stop playing with my emotions!!!
I think that you have long overstayed your welcome.

Each day I keep looking for signs that you will not return.
But before I get an opportunity to you keep forcing yourself back in.
Move on!!
It's time for a new beginning!
Move on!!!
It's time for change!
I think that you have long overstayed your welcome.

This is one time I wouldn't mind just seeing you on the news.
This is one time I wouldn't mind just seeing you somewhere else.
Yeah "see me come live with me..."
Ah shoulda listen.
Yeah nobody sent to call meh!!
I willingly came.
I still think that you have long overstayed your welcome.

Yeah Papa Groundhog and his entire family must be partying in Sweet Trinbago now.
Chipping to the beat of sweet pan and Soca music.
Yeah ah could see dem now, winning and rolling down in Port-of-Spain.
While I'm here in the cold.
Yeah man Old Man Winter it's high time you move on because you have overstayed your welcome!!!
